Description
A further architectural/structural analysis was undertaken in 1997 for the Dingle Hotel, Lymm, prior to proposed redevelopment. A previous architectural assessment (ECH3965/SCH4038) established the physical survival of an eighteenth century section, which incorporated seventeenth century elements around which the remainder of the Dingle Hotel complex had developed. The central structure was identified as the earlier Georgian rectory known through documentary and cartographic evidence. In addition, documentary evidence suggested the presence of an earlier seventeenth century rectory which formerly occupied the site.
The further study of the building, along with the development proposals, concludes that the historic elements of the Dingle Hotel cannot be justifiably retainined within the proposed development on the grounds of its architectural or characteristic significance. (1)
