Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in 2000 on land to the north of The Village New Road, Prestbury prior to redevelopment for housing. The site lies circa 100m to the north of St. Peter's Church which dates to the early thirteenth century. All of the archaeological trenches were excavated to snads and gravels at a depth of circa 0.5-1.0m. The only features/deposits recorded were of twentieth century date and included the brick foundations of garage buildings, a back-filled possible cellar, two back-filled inspection pits and petrol tanks.
