Site Event/Activity record ECH3904 - Land Between Mill Street, Pickford Street and Lower Exchange Street, Macclesfield: Archaeological Assessment

An desk-based archaeological assessment was undertaken in 2001 for an area of land between Mill Street, Pickford Street and Lower Exchange Street to provide a new bus interchange. The site covers circa 0.55ha and is located some 250m to the south of Macclesfield town centre. Following assessment and rectification of historical cartographic evidence, some features were identified for further investigation which may preserve archaeological information relating to the use of the area during the post medieval and modern periods.
