Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in 2001 during a site investigation at the Church of St Michael and All Angels in advance of internal re-ordering and construction work. Two trial pits and three bore holes were excavated. No significant archaeological features or deposits were located, however, the concrete foundations of circa 1900 of the south porch and nave were uncovered and recorded. A quantity of human bones was discovered immediately west of the nave, these appear to have been re-interred circa 1900. The vestigal remains of possible coffins were found to the south of the south porch. (1)
