Description
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in 2001 at St Peter's Church, Plemstall, comprising two trenches. Trench 1 contained a substantial wall foundation of medieval orgin, probably church foundations dating to the fourteenth/fifteenth century. Additionally, three human burials in situ were recorded, one of which was a double infant burial. All the burials dated to the mid-late nineteenth century; they remain in situ. Trench 2, located outside the church grounds, contained the remains of foundations of a likely workshop/shed of late nineteenth century date. (1)
