Description
The archaeological evaluation of a site located within the former precinct of Warrington Friary. Four evaluation trenches were excavated by machine to the level of naturally deposited sand, and the archaeological features revealed were excavated by hand. Three drains, of eighteenth to nineteenth century date, crossed two of the evaluation trenches; the remaining two trenches contained a post-medieval pit, and probable make-up and demolition deposits. Although an undated peaty layer was recorded in one trench, no finds or features were identified which were clearly of Roman or medieval date.
