Description
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in 2001 prior to redevelopment on the Moathouse Estate, off Valley Road, Crewe. Part of the site was once occupied by a medieval moated site. Seven linear trial trenches were machine excavated in the vicinity of the moated site. The moat ditch was identified, however, no dateable finds were recovered. Trenching on the moat platform failed to identify any structural remains or associated features. (1)
