Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in 2000 on land at Howey Lane, Congleton. The watching brief monitored ground works including th excavation of foundation trenches for a single dwelling and garage. Despite its potential location close to the line of a Roman road, no significant archaeological features were identified. Two pits containing nineteenth century domestic rubbish were recorded and are considered to be an extension of a refuse tip known to have been located to the south of the development site. (1)
