Description

This event was a building survey undertaken to inform proposals to rebuild the lost medieval upper floor of the thirteenth century east range of the cloister in Chester Cathedral, to enlarge the facilities for the choir song school. Groundplans and elevation drawings were completed, in addition to archive research to assist in establishing the original appearance and functioning of the east range in the post-medieval period. It was concluded that the roof space contained an important collection of architectural fragments, including part of a seated sculptured figure set against the east wall of the range, that merited preservation.
