Description
Foundation trenches (0.6m wide and 1.2m deep) were observed for a new extension to rear of White Horse public house, Pillory Street, Nantwich. Area lies within Medieval town (see Historic Towns Survey) and A.A.P. (local plan). Natural sand at 1.2m overlain by a dark brown, sandy loam containing brick and tile. Sealed by modern car park surface. No trace of walls/pits etc. in soil build-up. Location of extension shown as A on accompanying site location plan.
