Description
Former farm complex being converted for residential use. M D Leah visited 30.8.02 to assess survival of below-ground archaeological deposits. In building A internal ground surface being lowered by 0.3m to accommodate new concrete slab. Removed material appears to be natural sand and no former floor layers are visible. Also no evidence of former occupation (Pits etc).
In building B only test pits due to date. These revealed tiles overlying natural sand. This, however, sealed by lump of a dump of Sand underlying present floor. All this will come out as part of renovation.
N.B. Building B appears to be unstable.
