Description
One geotechnical test pit observed in N.E. corner of car park measures 3m (E-W) by 0.6m (N-S) and excavated to 4.2m. Concrete (0.3m thick) overlays a dark brown sandy clay loam, which extended to 2m. A single course of Brick occurred within this at 1m (unfrogged /crumbly white lime mortar). Deposit produced 19th century pottery. Sand/clay at 2m and excavated by machine to 4.2m (no waterlogging).
