Site Event/Activity record ECH3481 - Land between Holmes Chapel Rd & Prosperity Way, Middlewich.

Two areas were surveyed in the Geophysics Survey on the 30th May 2001; they were labelled West field and East field. A total of 33% of the whole site was surveyed which was then excavated between May and June of the same year. The results of the geophysics survey indicated that the soil in the West field was much contaminated with brick and ferrous debris to an extent that it has not yet been possible to identify any buried archaeological features. Similarly, the East field appeared to contain substantial quantities of rubble and other debris and again, no geophysical anomalies of archaeological interest were detected in the sample area. An FM36 Fluxgate Gradiometer was used along with GeoQuest InSite® software. CCC Report: R2370.
