Description
Nine evaluation trenches were excavated in 1994 in connection with the redevelopment of the Old Brewery Site, Wilderspool. Investigations failed to reveal any archaeologically significant deposits, although trench 6 had evidence of ploughsoil. It is possible that Roman deposits exist beneath the plough soil as has been demonstrated previously in the area. (1)
