Description
Investigation into a section of the North Wall in 1982 as part of the City Wall Consolidation programme. The section observed lies adjacent to the Abbey Green excavation (1). The reused tombstones and architectural fragments were found to have been restricted to patching and repair, possibly in the late Roman period and were not therefore to be used to date the original construction of the wall (2).
