Description
Non-archaeological excavations were carried out between 1909 and 1910 during preparations for the construction of a new arcade being the (possibly former) Allen's Buildings on Bridge St. East. This new work related to extensive additions to the buildings, and followed on from previous excavation in 1863 (ECH2996) (2). The site was within the Grosvenor Hotel Paddock. Large Roman architectural remains were reported, and they were said to have been a continuation of those found in 1863.
