Watkin reports on the discovery of Roman evidence during the construction of the Infirmary in around 1759. Originally reported in Foote Gower Addl MSSS British Museum 11,334 Foliio 205. Evidence comprised a large quantity of Roman tile and brick. Watkin suggests these were taken from the destroyed western end of the original city defences (1).
