Description

Following 1899 excavations (ECH2453) at the site of the Grotto, formerly the Harp & Crown Inn, at the corner of Commonhall St. and Bridge St., when two column bases, c2.43m apart, aligned north-south, c14.5m west of Bridge St. were found, alterations to the building were undertaken in 1906 (this event). These alterations necessitated the removal of the column bases were to the museum (1) (2).
