Description

Watergate, 1874: excavation into the river gravel recorded large assemblage of Roman pottery and eight antefixes, also oak timbers probably from a wharf (1, 2, 6). CHER 8039/4 West Walls Roodee, 1874: Tombstone, two skeletons, a gold ring and second bronze coin of Domitian during construction for a sewer (3) (4) (7). CHER 8041/5 Stanley Place: hypocaust recorded at the western end some 75m north of Lower Watergate Street (5) (6). CHER 8038/10
