Description

A Roman surface made of pebbles in cement was found beneath the Lady Chapel in 1868 (1). A centurial stone was also found in association (2). These discoveries were located nine feet below the eastern wall of the Chapel (3). An inscribed stone, now lost and a coin of Domitian were also recovered (5).
