Description
Whilst digging for gravel near Wilmslow railway station in 1857, workmen found an upturned cinerary urn with its mouth covered by a cloth. Inside were fragmnets of burnt bone. The cloth disintegrated when it was removed, and the urn also collapsed into several pieces.
