Description

An historic building survey of the Old Hall undertaken by the RCHME in 1994-5. The survey indicated that the earliest (identifiable) part of the building, a two storied L-shaped range, dates from the mid to late sixteenth century. A large brick built extension, comprising two stories and attics, was constructed in the early seventeenth century. A further three storied extension was added in the mid eighteenth century, but was destroyed by fire in 1779. In 1912 the Old Hall was enlarged and extensively altered in the Arts and Crafts style.
