CHESTER CITY (IM) SJ4066SE ST WERBURGH STREET 595-1/4/348 (South side) 10/01/72 Nos.15 AND 17 St Werburgh Mount (Formerly Listed as: ST WERBURGH STREET (West side) Nos.15 AND 17) GV II Shop. 1874. By John Douglas. For George Hodgkinson, leaseholder from Dean and Chapter of Chester Cathedral, forming part of development with Nos 19-27 (odd) St Werburgh Street (qv). Stone-dressed brick and timber framing with plaster panels; brown tile roof. 2 storeys; triangular in plan, occupying a corner site. The stone-dressed brick first storey has red sandstone stall-riser and flush quoins at corners. The shopfront has one stone step to a 9-panel door, the 6 upper panels glazed; 3-pane window; 2 stone steps to door of 4 square panels above four long panels, to stair north, has stone lintel dated 1874. Moulded sole-beam to second storey; mullioned and transomed window of 3;3 lights above shopfront; coved eaves to hipped roof below gable pargeted with foliar and floral motif; The north part has 2 small partly leaded windows beneath a hipped roof sweeping down from the ridge over No.19 St Werburgh Street (qv).
