CHESTER CITY (IM) SJ4066SE LOWER BRIDGE STREET 595-1/4/231 (West side) 28/07/55 Nos.8 AND 10 (Formerly Listed as: LOWER BRIDGE STREET (West side) No 6 & Nos 8 & 10) GV II Shop and accommodation, now storage. 1886. By EA Ould on site of small shop and small cottage. Painted brick and timber framing with plaster panels; grey slate roof, ridge parallel with front. 2 storeys. The shopfront has small-pane recessed central door under timber Tudor arch, with Tudor-arched shop window to each side. Brick end-piers with stone and brick corbels to jetty. The second storey has small-framing with herringbone braces; two 6-light mullioned and leaded casements; 2 front gables, their roofs lying against the main roof, have small framing with a row of quadrant-braced panels and, above, herringbone bracing. A shaped chimney of brown brick behind the ridge. The back has 2 adjoining rear wings with no visible features of special interest. INTERIOR: no known cellar. The first storey has no visible features of special interest. The second storey shows the former Row walk archway of sandstone from The Falcoln Inn (qv) a corner flue in south-east corner of the middle north room; a king-post truss.
