CHESTER CITY (IM) SJ4065NE BUNCE STREET 595-1/6/81 (East side) 04/03/94 Nos.11-17 (Odd) GV II Row of 5 cottages now converted to 4. 1874. In the manner of Edward Hodkinson. For BB Foulkes of the Golden Eagle Public House, Castle Street (qv). Orange-brown brick with blue brick patterning; grey slate roof, ridge parallel with front. 2 storeys. Each of the formerly 5 cottages, of which No.11 forms 2, are of one bay. Doors of 6 panels have incised mouldings to rails and muntins batting against the stiles; chamfered reveals; segmental arches to doors and windows; painted stone sills; 3-pane sashes, one tripartite, the others dual, upper panes having margined leads; a 1-course blue brick band rising to an apex over east door. The second storey has corbelled brick headers supporting a 1-course band; 2-pane sashes with leaded upper panes, tripartite to north bay and to No.13, dual elsewhere. A band of diapering, except to No.13, between the windows; a corbelled gablet above the north bay and a full-width front gable to No.13; plain eaves. 2 shaped brick ridge chimneys, one similar chimney, altered, and a rebuilt chimney to No.17. A simple north gable end; the rear is not visible. INTERIORS not inspected. Listing NGR: SJ4051065944
