CHESTER CITY (IM) SJ4066SE BRIDGE STREET AND ROW 595-1/4/79 (East side) 28/07/55 No.63 Street and No.75 Row (Formerly Listed as: BRIDGE STREET No.63 Street & No.75 Row) GV II Undercroft and town house, largely rebuilt as undercroft shop, Row shop and accommodation now used as storage. Medieval elements not now visible, c1760, altered C20. Flemish bond brown brick with grey slate roof, ridge at right-angle to street and hipped to front. EXTERIOR: 4 storeys including undercroft and Row; one bay. Modern shopfront to street; brick end-piers through undercroft and Row storeys, the lower parts rendered; timber Row-front rail on stick balusters; sloped boarded stallboard 1.63m front to back; flagged Row walk; shopfront c1850 has later recessed glazed door with sub-panel, panelled stall-risers and end pilasters, moulded sills, slim cylindrical mullions with fluted bases and caps, rounded top corners of panes with carved spandrels and a moulded cornice. The brick upper storeys, detailed as Nos 71 & 73 Row (qv), have one original flush 12-pane sash to third storey and a 9-pane sash to the fourth storey; painted stone sill to third storey; sillband to fourth storey; rusticated wedge lintels with false keystones; painted stone full cornice; tall brick parapet with plain cap; a lateral chimney, north; the south return of English garden wall brickwork has a 9-pane flush sash to the fourth storey. INTERIOR: the undercroft is lined, but has C18 cross-beams and was observed during refurbishment to have a medieval south wall; the upper storeys are lined. Listing NGR: SJ4057666110
