Undercroft and town house, now undercroft office, Row shop and storage. The present front c1800, altered 1930s office front to street. Sandstone and Flemish bond brown brick; roof not visible. EXTERIOR: 12 concrete-repaired sandstone steps to Row, north; painted stone end-piers, partly covered, through undercroft and Row; cast-iron railing to Row-front and return to steps has central rail intersecting figures of 8 on alternate balusters; plain top rail; cast-iron Roman Doric central column; sloped boarded stallboard 1.74m from front to back; terrazzo-tiled Row walk; modern shopfront; plaster ceiling; a fascia covers the Row-top bressumer. The brick upper storeys have painted stone sills and wedge lintels; the third storey recessed north sash has glazing-bars removed; an inserted 5-light large-pane mullioned and transomed canted oriel, south, on timber sub-panels, has dentilled sill on 3 shaped brackets and dentilled cornice to flat roof; the fourth storey has a dual sash with glazing bars removed, north, and a now 4-pane sash, south; a lead rainwater pipe and head, south; painted stone cornice and low parapet; a lateral south chimney at back. INTERIOR: the undercroft, lowered and altered for newspaper press, has 2 cast-iron Roman Doric columns, timber beams and joists. the Row and upper storeys are largely lined and display no features of special interest.
