Undercroft and town house, rebuilt from Row storey upward as Row shop and living accommodation. Undercroft ceiling and probably side-walls medieval, most likely C14; front and probably interior of upper storeys c1800, the latter altered and lined C20. Red-brown brick; grey slate roof with ridge at right-angle to street. EXTERIOR: 4 storeys, one bay. Modern shopfront to street; end-piers to undercroft and Row storeys are cased in wood; cast-iron Row-front railing has bottom rail, stick balusters and plain rail; the sloped stallboard 1.69m from front to back and the Row walk are covered in plastic; modern shop; boxed end-beams; a wood fascia covers the Row-front bressumer. The upper storeys in Flemish bond have painted stone sills, wedge lintels and a cornice beneath a low stone parapet; an 18-pane nearly flush sash to the third storey; a recessed 15-pane sash with horizontally-proportioned panes to the fourth storey. INTERIOR: the undercroft has a chamfered oak beam under back of the stallboard, stopped at south end; the south wall has a bridging beam on 5 damaged stone corbels, carrying 10 visible large square cross-joists, their north ends covered; the Row and upper storeys are almost wholly lined; the fourth storey has corner chimney-breasts and plaster cornices in the front and second rooms; one 6-panel Georgian door.
