2 shops and accommodation, now 2 shops and offices. c1804. Probably on site of 2 undercrofts and town houses. Brown brick in Flemish bond; roof not visible. EXTERIOR: 4 storeys including street and Row levels; an almost symmetrical front of 2 bays. No.16 has a modest shopfront with a window of one full-height pane south of a glazed door with a sub-panel and a 2-pane window north of the door, and a timber fascia; No.18 has a modern shopfront. The Row front has a cast-iron railing with spear-heads; the sloping stallboard is approx 3m from front to back, with rendered brick walls at each end and centre; the pavement to the Row walk is covered; the face to the back of the Row walk has a flush tripartite sash of 4; 12; 4 panes to each side of a 2-panel door in a case with fluted pilasters, frieze and moulded cornice, leading to a recessed porch with door to each side. Plaster ceiling to stallboard and Row walk, with wood beams. The recessed sashes to the third and fourth storeys have painted wedge lintels and stone sills; the third storey has 2 tripartite sashes, that to north of 4; 12; 4 panes, that to south with some glazing bars altered; two 9-pane sashes to the fourth storey; lead rainwater pipe and head dated 1804; painted stone cornice; a flush chimney set back at each end.
