Pair of town houses, now offices. c1800, altered late C19 and late C20. Flemish bond brown brick with pale headers; slate roof, ridge parallel with front. EXTERIOR: basement and 3 storeys. Painted stone plinth; an unequal 12-pane sash and a replaced window to basements; wrought-iron railings to areas with moulded square iron posts at inner corners. 6 stone steps to paired doors of 6 fielded panels in round-arched recessed porches with 1-pane fanlights. The ground floor has a recessed sash with one bar in upper leaf, to each side of entrances. The first floor has four 12-pane sashes; the second floor has 9-pane sashes, one having an inserted upper hopper. Cornice and 1-course stone parapet. Pair of flush lateral chimneys on each gable; the south gable has a replaced 4-pane casement, the north gable a sash. The rear has 2 recessed 16-pane sashes to ground floor and first floor, a 12-pane unequal sash and an altered sash to the second floor. A central projecting extension in timber on cast-iron columns to the upper storeys, probably late C19. INTERIORS: flat-ceiled basements with exposed beams; stone steps. Upper storeys have architraves to windows and doors, some with corner roses; cornices; dogleg stair with open string, shaped brackets, stick balusters and swept rail. The interior was altered and doors removed on conversion to offices 1980s by C Stananought.
