CHESTER CITY (EM) SJ4166 THE GROVES 1932-1/6/155 (North side) 10/01/72 Grosvenor Rowing Club Boathouse (the east boathouse) GV II Boathouse. 1877. By TM Lockwood. For the Grosvenor Rowing Club, probably at expense of the first Duke of Westminster. Timber frame with brick nogging and plaster panels; brick; brown tile roof. 2 storeys. Verandah on vigorously moulded turned corner-post right, 2 slender intermediate columns of cast-iron and small timber-framed stair-well, left. 3 sets of boarded doors, 2 with hit-and-miss timber vents to boathouse. Balcony with 4 heavily-moulded turned posts; timber rails. Large jettied front gable with canted oriel to attic. The right end is partly framed, partly brick; the rear is brick.
