CHESTER CITY (EM) SJ4066 QUEEN STREET 1932-1/6/232 (East side) 10/01/72 Nos.24 AND 26 GV II Pair of town houses, now nursing home. c1770. Flemish bond brown brick with grey slate roof. Cellars and 3 storeys. Painted stone plinth with cellar vent to each house; pair of doorways, 2 stone steps to each, left door of 5 fielded panels, right door 6 fielded panels; overlights; paired architraves, each eared to outer side and with panelled jambs and soffit to right door; continuous frieze and cornice; the left house has a 16-pane flush sash, the right house a 4;12;4-pane sash. Each house has two flush 12-pane sashes to first floor; right house has sillband; continuous vertical joint between the houses to both upper storeys. The left house has an unequal 12-pane flush sash to second floor, the right house two flush 9-pane sashes. Painted stone sills and rusticated wedge lintels with keystones. Flush chimneys, one before the ridge and one behind the ridge of each house. The left (north) gable is rendered; a 20-pane unequal sash near rear of each storey; the rear has sash of 4 rows of 5 panes to ground floor, a 16-panes sash to each upper storey, the panes square in second floor. The right side has a replaced 6-pane sash to first floor and a 9-pane sash to second floor. The rear is built against. INTERIOR not inspected. Listing NGR: SJ4088166527
