CHESTER CITY (EM) SJ4066 FOREGATE STREET 1932-1/6/115 (North side) 10/01/72 No.75 GV II Small town house, now shop and vacant accommodation. C17 heavily restored late C19. Timber frame with plaster panels, brick to rear; red clay tile roof. 2 storeys; 2 bays. Arcade to street has C20 end pier left; 2 square posts on sandstone bases; replaced exposed joists over arcade; dragon beam left. C20 shop front; C17 beams and joists over rear entry, left. Ornate brackets and bressumer to first floor jetty; small framing with herringbone struts to all panels. 5-light leaded casement with moulded mullions and Ionic side-pilasters. Jettied gable on 2 consoles has 4 panels decorated with fleurs-de-lys; curved braces; herringbone braces to apex; wrought-iron sign bracket; bargeboards and finial. The right side has herringbone braced small framing and a 2-light leaded casement. The rear is of probably C18 brick; a small-pane 3-light casement, inside face blocked; a rebuilt brick chimney. The projecting rear wing left of entry, of C18 brickwork has altered fenestration and rebuilt gable end. INTERIOR: little is visible; a Georgian door and a blocked corner fireplace upstairs.
