CHESTER CITY (EM) SJ46NW ABBOT'S GRANGE 1932-1/2/1 (North side) 10/01/72 Nos.4 AND 6 (Formerly Listed as: LIVERPOOL ROAD Abbot's Grange) II Pair of town houses. Early C19, altered. Flemish bond brown brick with hipped grey slate roof. 3 storeys of 5 windows, formerly 6. Door of 6 fielded panels with 3-pane sidelights above single wooden panels; pilasters carrying consoles between door and sidelights; spiral-moulded colonnettes at jambs; broad radial-bar fanlight in deep segmental arch. Door to No.6 replaced; the 2 houses are now joined. First floor sillband; 5 recessed 16-pane sashes plus one opening closed in flush brickwork; the 3 east sashes have flat gauged-brick heads, the other 2 have segmental arches, later. 5, formerly 6, recessed sashes to a second floor; 3 to east have 8-pane/4-pane leaves, 2 to west have 6/3 panes. Flush 7-flue chimney at east end; projecting chimney on west end. The rear has a 20-pane stair-window. INTERIOR: doors of 6 margined panels; architraves with corner roses; Imperial stair with open strings, shaped brackets, stick balusters and swept rails. Listing NGR: SJ4032967333
