House: early C17 but remodelled early C19 for Earl of Shrewsbury, and extended later C19. Stuccoed over timber framing on red sandstone base, Welsh slate roof and 2 ridge brick chimneys. Probably lobby-entry plan originally, now with parallel range to the rear. 2-storey, 5-bay east front. 1st and 3rd bays have large iron small-pane casements with intersecting tracery and the central 4-panes hinged. 2nd bay has a simple wooden architrave with glazed door and fanlight and window above. Remaining 2 bays are later additions with sashes without glazing bars. West front has deep tripartite windows below and 12-pane sashes above. Interior: timber frame almost complete, showing small framing of external walls, chamfered ceiling beams and remains of the fireplace bressumer. Remaining fittings later, including simple later C19 fireplaces, and a 6-panelled and 4-panelled pine doors. C20 staircase made of C19 pieces.
