SJ 45 NE ALDERSEY C.P. DOG LANE 5/11 Yew Tree Farmhouse (formerly listed as 1/3/1967 Yew Tree Farm) II Farmhouse 1654, altered to rear. Brick-nogged oak frame with cross-gable at each end, both rebuilt in brick to rear and with C20 brick lean-to extension to right; part of oak frame removed from left front gable. Grey slate roof of steep pitch, li storeys, 3 windows. Massive ridge chimney of brick. Central gabled dormer. Replaced door of oak boards in opening with slightly arched soffit bears date and initials J (for John) C (for Cawarden) who married into the Leche family and initiated the Carden Estate. Early 019 Gothick casements of wood to front, restored mid C20, with leaded glazing. 2 gabled dormers to side of right cross-gable. Interior: Lobby entrance with back-to-back ingle-nooks behind, that to right with small fire-window, and separate quadrant stair with oak winders to each side. A third stair (recently rebuilt) from left room to bedroom over. A stopped ovolo beam over central room, a stop-chamfered beam over left room and a massive chamfered beam over right room. Jowled posts, one carved with fleur-de-lys. Internally the oak frame is almost complete, but comprehensively restored. Listing NGR: SJ4636755630
