9/68 Equestrian Statue and Plinth at centre of Stable Yard
GV II
Statue of Horse and Groom c.1875 by Edgar Boehm for 1st Duke of Westminster. Bronze on red Peterhead granite plinth. The rearing stallion, modelled on the English thoroughbred Citadel, towers above the groom. A dramatic yet naturalistic group, carefully detailed and technically accomplished. (Gervas Huxley).
