3/105 Temple in Broad Walk.

Garden ornament. c1820. By William Cole. Ashlar. Circular temple on square stepped base (an interpretation of the Choragic monument to Lysicrates but without the inner drum behind the colonnade). Square platform supporting 3 steps of diminishing height above which are 2 courses of horizontally rusticated stonework with ledge above. Circular plinth to monument above this supporting 6 corinthian columns. Full entablature above but without decorated frieze of the Greek original. Antefixae to roof edge and floral ornament at apex. The monument is now shorn of its original wider square platform with a flight of steps to each side and balustrades.
