2/40 Icehouse in Endon Hall Garden
II
Icehouse: c1840 for William Clayton. Coursed buff sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings. Entered by flight of steps between revetment walls with stapled rounded coping. Icehouse, at right angles to the steps, is entered through a door with a plain stone surround. It has a low segmental vault over a central passage flanked by 2 large troughs of stone flags with a stone flagged floor.
