Description

SJ 98 SE 4/79 LYME HANDLEY C.P. Harestead Farmhouse. GV II Farmhouse: dated 1696 with porch added slightly later. Coursed, squared, brown sandstone rubble with black-painted stone dressings. Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge. One brick and one stone chimney. Rectangular, gable-entry, double-pile plan with projecting, 2-storey porch. All gables stone-coped with kneelers. 2-storey, asymmetrical, 3-bay front. Windows mixture of tall, 2 and 3-light chamfered stone mullions. Blocked doorcase to right with 2-light horizontal sliding sash inserted. Door in plain reveal in porch. Cyma-moulded doorcase in right gable end has date and initials WIE on lintel. Remaining windows in sides and rear mixture of 1, 2 and 3-light chamfered mullions. Listing NGR: SJ9512682815
