3/22 Temple of Diana in the Wilderness Garden at Adlington Hall.

Domed circular temple: mid C18 for Charles Legh. Ashlar buff sandstone, felted roof. Stylobate supports 6 Roman Doric columns with full entablature. Replaced golden crescent finial. Soffit of dome is panelled with scrolls and garlands.
Appears on a painting of 1760 of the hall and gardens by James Shrigley, hanging in the hall.
