HOLT'S LANE (South Side) Styal Cross Farmhouse The above address shall be amended to read: SHAWS FOLD (North Side) Cross Farmhouse SJ 88 SW 1/288 WILMSLOW FORMER U.D. HOLT'S LANE (South Side) Styal Cross Farmhouse 6/3/1975 GV II Formerly a farmhouse, now a house: C16 origins, additions of late C17, core rewalled late C18 and mid C19 alterations. Partly in English wall bond orange brick with stone dressings, remainder is washed brick. Partly Kerridge stone-slate roof, partly Welsh slate roof and 3 brick chimneys. T-shaped plan, formerly with a cross-passage. 2-storey, 5-bay east front. Right 2 bays projected under gable and have an ashlar plinth and quoins. Below are a 3-light and a blocked wooden casement and a similar 3-light above, all under flat wedged brick heads. Setting for a date plaque in gable.. Remaining bays have 2 or 3-light casements and a door behind a gabled trellised porch. North front has a gabled porch, with a 4-board door behind, and an uper lean-to to the left. Interior: parts of full cruck truss with tiebeam and spurs visible upstairs. Some heavy chamfered ceiling beams. Listing NGR: SJ8393083297
