Sluices, weir and culvert carrying Shores Clough under Macclesfield Canal
II
Sluices, spill weir and culvert : c.1830. Coursed squared buff sandstone rubble with hammer dressed flat copings. The clough is dammed and has a spill weir and sluice that control the flow through a circular culvert running under the canal. A second sluice on the towpath side controls the height of the canal and has an overflow that curves to join the clough before entering the culvert.
