3/15 Western walled garden at Arley Hall

Walled garden. C18. Red English garden wall bond brick with stone copings. Rectangular, walls c.12-13 ft. high. South wall has C19 central gatepiers with rubbed brick quoins and stone caps with ball and spike finials. East wall has buttressing and one pointed archway. West wall has one pointed arch and one entrance with a flat stone lintel. Both the east and west walls were extended in the C19 and a new north wall built. The start of the addition is indicated by the 2 piers, one each to the east and west walls. The east wall here forms the west wall of the Eastern Walled Garden (q.v.)
