Listed Building: ARCLID HALL FARMHOUSE (1330045)

ARCLID C.P. (Off) CONGLETON ROAD SJ 76 SE (Hemingshaw Lane) 3/8 Arclid Hall Farmhouse 14/2/1967 - II Farmhouse. c1700. Red Flemish bond brick with a slate roof (originally stone slates). Three storeys. Entrance front: five bays near-symmetrically disposed. Projecting plinth with chamfered ashlar band to top. Slightly to right of centre is a blocked doorway to right and left of which are three-light C19 casement windows with cambered heads and ashlar sills imposed in the place of the original arrangement of two 2-light casements at either side. Between the floors is a band of two bricks depth and to the first floor are five cross-windows of C20 date with cambered heads and ashlar sills. A further band of 2 bricks depth divides the first from the second floor which has five 2-light windows with cambered heads and ashlar sills. Gable chimney stacks at right and left. To the left of the house is a C19 addition which has a C20 lean-to with oriel window at centre and doorways at either side. The right hand side of the house has four bays with a gable above the 2 bays at left. Bands of 2 bricks depth between the ground and first and first and second floors. To the ground floor a half-glazed door has been inserted at left in place of a window. To its right is a 2-light window and at far left a 3-light C19 casement window replacing two 2-light windows. To the first floor are four cross-windows and to the second floor are four 2-light windows. All the windows on this front have cambered heads and ashlar sills. The rear has three gables, that to the centre being of lesser height than those to either side. Brick bands between the floors as before. The left hand gable has a single-light ground floor window and a blocked window at left of this and there is a similar blocked window to the first floor. To the centre are two mezzanine staircase windows which cut through the brick bands, each of 3 lights. To right is a plank doorway with a C20 brick porch before it and at right again a 2-light window. To the first floor are two cross-windows with a 2-light window to the attic. Interior: Staircase of 4 flights with panelled rectangular newel posts, moulded caps and a moulded handrail. The turned balusters appear to all be of C20 date. To the first floor landing are four doors each having two raised and fielded panels. Listing NGR: SJ7846961609
