Description

HOLMES CHAPEL CP SJ 76 NE 4/2 Holmes Chapel CHURCH VIEW Nos 3 & 5 (Formerly listed under 14.2.67 Church Hulme parish) GV II Pair of town houses, early C18. Red brick in Flemish bond. Both formerly had slate roofs but No.5 now has large C20 concrete tiles. 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays each. Sashes with exposed weight boxes, glazing bars, stone sills and flat arches with keystones. Attic windows are casements in gabled dormers with barge boards. Six-panel doors with raised and fielded panels, external eaved architraves and wide linings and rectangular overlights. At the rear (east) an original, tall, metal staircase window. Gable-end and party wall stacks. Interior: Six-panel doors, mainly at first floor level. Open newel staircases with crossed balustrade members in Chinoiserie style. Ledged and battened doors at attic level. Listing NGR: SJ7625067295
