Description

GOOSTREY C.P. BLACKDEN SJ 77 SE 2/24 Blackden Hall 14.2.67 II* Farmhouse, late C16 with later alterations. Brick and timber framing with plastered panels, slate roof. 2 storeys and attic. 3 bays, gabled. Part stone part brick plinth. Close studding, part with middle rail. Centre bay jettied first floor. Roundel, chevron and close panelling treatment above first floor. All three gables jettied. Mainly three light mullion windows with rectangular leaded glazing, three of these slightly projecting in the C16 style. An internal porch with ovolo moulded outer frame contains replacement oak boarded door. An added wing (north-west) completes an "L" shaped plan. Finials to front gables and plain tall stacks. Interior: Timbers in internal walls. Moulded beam over wide fireplace. Oak eight-panel doors. Bevelled beams and exposed bevelled ceiling joist. Area of timber in chevron arrangement at first floor level also some close panelling. Curved truss tie beam with arch braces, exposed purlins. Listing NGR: SJ7869970384
