Milepost, earlier C19, cast iron. Cylindrical stem, inscribed W H SMITH AND CO: MAKERS: WHITCHURCH, carries curved plates inscribed in sans serif capitals MIDDLEWICH 2 MILES; DAVENHAM 6; NORTHWICH 8; SANDBACH 3 MILES; CHURCH LAWTON 8 1/2; NEWCASTLE 15. A turnpike milepost.
