2/16 North gates to St Boniface's Churchyard
GV II
Piers and gates, probably early C19, with restorations 1875, 1889 and 1910. Sandstone ashlar piers supporting timber and metal gates. The piers are square on plan with ogee and ovalo moulded caps supporting ball finials. Inscriptions on the piers give the dates of restoration and the names Samuel Rutter & Richard Boffey also Maurice Hulse & Albert Major - Church Wardens. The gates have stiles and three rails of timber with vertical round fleur-de-lis topped rods passing through the rails. They are hung on hook and band hinges and inscribed with their date of replacement (1910).
