6/1 The Former Rectory
12.1.67 II
Formerly rectory now private dwelling, early C18 with later alterations. Red Brick with slate roof. 2 storeys and basement, 6 bays. Part glazed pair of doors, in opening with panelled doorcase and cornice-moulded hood, approached up seven steps between curved walls. Large semi-circular 3-sash bay window to south west corner. The 5 central bays are set back. Sash windows with stone sills, exposed weight boxes glazing bars, and flat gauged arches. One ground floor window opening built up and the position of a second altered. Brick first floor band to inner 5 bays. High parapet wall with coping, alleged to be the remains of the original half storey. The east elevation has large recessed sashes and a 4-storey, l-bay wide, north east corner tower with lead roll hipped roof. Interior: Panelled window shutters.
